Reference information

Use an official gold-price source—and keep it separate from a pawn amount

Check reference prices with their source and announcement time. Market prices can change during the day; a pawn amount requires inspection at a branch.

Two prices to keep apart

Why a pawn amount starts from the buy-back price

Sell price vs buy-back price

Two bars share the same starting point but end in different places.

  • Upper bar: the sell price — what a gold shop charges you
  • Lower grey bar: the buy-back price — what a gold shop pays you
  • Gold bracket: the gap most people forget

A pawnshop starts from the lower bar, not the upper. Both prices come from the Gold Traders Association and change daily.

Prices can move during the day

A figure on a website or historical sign should not be treated as the confirmed figure for a later inspection date.

Standard weights help with conversion

The Gold Traders Association states 15.16 g per baht-weight for jewellery gold and 15.244 g for bullion.

A reference price is not a pawn amount

The branch must still inspect weight, purity, other materials, condition and item details before confirming acceptance or an amount.

Details the branch needs to check

  • Weight checked by the branchA document or home scale is preliminary; the branch still needs to inspect the actual item.
  • Purity and other materialsStones, clasps and other components may need to be considered separately from the gold.
  • Condition and item detailsCondition, repairs and other verifiable details may affect how the item is considered.
  • Market information on inspection dayGold prices move, so an old figure or a price visible in a photograph is not a confirmed pawn amount.

This tool converts weight only; it does not calculate a pawn amount. Gold prices move, and the branch must inspect the actual item before confirming acceptance or an amount.
