Assumes unchanged principal for five full months, repaid at maturity, without renewal or principal reductions. It does not guarantee an approved amount. Other periods, principal changes or renewals change the cost.

Tickets have a five-month term. You may pay interest to renew on an ongoing basis, or make principal reductions. Paying interest alone does not reduce principal, and another term incurs further interest. Check the amount and dates on each ticket issued by the branch.

You may voluntarily pay interest or redeem before maturity. The five-month term does not prohibit early redemption. Count the pawn date, not the redemption date. Same-day pawning and redemption counts as one day with half-month interest. A partial month of up to 15 days is charged as half a month; more than 15 days is charged as one month, not a daily pro-rata rate.

Pawning uses your item as collateral. Failure to meet payment and other conditions can result in loss of the item. Check the amounts and dates on your ticket, and contact the branch before maturity. Calculation details →

How the interest is calculated

Interest is charged in two tiers, not at a single flat rate. The first ฿2,000 of principal is charged at 2% a month; everything above that is charged at 1.25% a month. The two are then added together.

Diagram showing the two interest tiers: the first portion of principal and the balance above it

Two tiers, added together

The bar is one principal amount, split into two portions charged at different rates.

  • The first ฿2,000, at 2% a month
  • Everything above ฿2,000, at 1.25% a month
  • The two arrows merge into one monthly interest figure

Example, ฿20,000: 40 + 225 = ฿265 a month — not 2% of the whole amount.

This is an arithmetic example for a five-month planning period, not a confirmed total for any ticket. The actual amount depends on the chargeable period and the ticket details.

What we want you to know first

  • The examples and calculator treat a part-month of 15 days or fewer as half a month, and more than 15 days as one month.
  • If you want to pay interest, redeem, or act before a date on the ticket, ask the issuing branch to confirm the amount, status and procedure first.
  • The calculator and tables are planning aids; they do not alter the information on a pawn ticket.
  • Check the amount, rate, dates, item description and terms on the ticket before deciding.

Planning example table

Compare monthly interest with the total cost of five full months without reducing principal. Actual ticket totals may differ with dates and payments along the way.
