Should I pawn my gold or sell it?

Pawning and selling serve different needs. Pawning creates a borrowing arrangement with interest and conditions for getting your item back. Selling means transferring the item, without assuming you can buy the same piece back later at the same price.

Do you want this particular piece back?

Family jewellery and gifts may have personal value beyond their metal content. If you pawn, make sure you understand the ticket and can manage the payments. Pawning does not preserve an item indefinitely without conditions.

Plan what you will need to repay

Interest continues while the arrangement remains in place. Paying interest to renew does not reduce principal. If you want to reduce the amount owed, discuss a principal payment with the issuing branch and check the updated record.

Compare actual offers

Consider the net amount, total costs, dates and your ability to repay without affecting essential spending. A calculator helps planning but is not an approval or a guaranteed offer. If repayment is uncertain, take time to reconsider.

Ask before deciding

Money OK’s appraisal is free, with no obligation to proceed. Read about five-month tickets, check rates and speak with a branch.

Questions about your visit

Have a question? Talk to your branch

For an existing ticket, ask the issuing branch about your balance and documents. If this is your first visit, staff can explain how it works.
